You can upload PDF, EPUB, MOBI, TXT, DOCX, and PPTX files. SmartRead parses the chapters and converts them into audio you can listen to on the road.
Is SmartRead free?
SmartRead is free to download on the App Store, and you can start listening for free. The built-in library includes daily picks and curated book lists.

How does voice control work while driving?

Does SmartRead read the whole book or just a summary?
Both. SmartRead offers chaptered AI summaries and guides that get you the core ideas of a book fast, as well as deeper long-form listening. You choose the version that fits your drive.
Can I ask questions while listening?
Yes. SmartRead has built-in AI Q&A: if you are curious about something you just heard, just ask out loud and get an instant answer based on the book and where you are in it.
What languages does SmartRead support?
SmartRead supports English and Chinese, both in the app interface and in the AI voices that narrate books and summaries.
Are my uploaded documents private?
